Russ gepresst, 10 x 10 x 10 cm
Der pure Russ von Steinkohle, gewonnen aus dem Kamin einer Schmiede, wurde in einer Schalung von exakt 1dm3 gepresst, bis das Material sich alleine durch die Struktur seiner Teile in der Würfelform festigte. Hätte man 6 Gigapascal Druck verwendet, wäre wahrscheinlich aus dem Würfel Russ ein Diamant geworden.

Soot pressed, 10 x 10 x 10 cm
The pure soot of hard coal, obtained from the chimney of a forge, was pressed in a formwork of exactly 1dm3 until the material solidified in the cube shape by the structure of its parts alone. If 6 gigapascals of pressure had been used, the cube of soot would probably have become a diamond.
